Sony's Animated Spider-Man Film to Break New Visual Ground, says the Studio
With an official title for Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming live-action reboot set in stone, Sony turned its attention to their animated feature at CinemaCon. While the film isn't due out till 2018, Sony Pictures Animation president Kristine Belson is certainly confident about the picture.
Belson claims that the film will present "a vision of Spider-Man that will take your break away." Admitting that her claims were bold, she stated that "conceptually and visually, it will break new ground for the superhero genre."
Her claims could mean new animation techniques and technology, but it's very likely she is simply referring to the imbalance between live action and animated superhero films. The film will arrive December 21, 2018, and is being steered by producers/screenwriters Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
