'Star Trek' CBS series begins shooting this Fall
The upcoming Star Trek series is set to star shooting this fall in Toronto. While the show is something fans have craved for a long time, the subsequent episodes following its pilot will only air on CBS' streaming service, in an obvious bid to challenge other streaming services and develop its own.
In any case, filming begins for the series in Canada this fall, which comes straight from CBS via Twitter:

Hannibal's Bryan Fuller is executive producing the series. Fuller got his start on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager, so this is kind of a fitting full-circle-type scenario. Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home, and The Undiscovered Country writer Nicholas Meyer will join Fuller on the new series.
Fuller is certainly keeping busy, and he'll have to juggle to series with the upcoming American Gods, which has begun production.
CBS' official logline reads as such: “The brand-new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.”
