Steve Shill to Direct Historical Series 'All the Queen's Men'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Steve Shill has an Emmy for his work on Dexter in its fourth (and arguably best) season, and now he's been put in charge of All The Queen's Men, the historical epic written by Stewart Harcourt (who has written for such series as Dexter, The Tudors, Shameless). Being developed for Tayox TV and Ingenious Media, it is based on the historical novels The Wild Irish and The Queen's Bastards by Robin Maxwell.

Described as an “action-packed, modern-feminist drama set during the imperialist British conquest of Old Ireland during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I," it focuses on the bitter rivalry between Queen Elizabeth I and Grace O'Malley, who was Queen of the Irish Rebels. It's the story of the struggle to survive in a world of Machiavellian politics and one dominated by ruthless men.

Tracking for an early 2018 shoot, Shill will also executive produce the series. He's been nominated for a WGA for his writing on HBO's beloved and short-lived Deadwood, and has directed for series such as The Sopranos, The Flash, The Wire, The Good Wife, The West Wing, and more.
