'Suicide Squad' Has an $8.1 Million Pay-Day on Day One Overseas
Suicide Squad has opened to $8.1 million in international markets, with a large portion of that coming from debuts in Korea and France.
These openings top Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool in those regions, not to mention Batman v Superman. The film will be open to 57 markets by weekends close. It opened with $2.9 million in Korea, making it the biggest August debut of all time for a U.S film. In France, its $2.7 million, a huge increase over the aforementioned films.
The film has seen poor reviews come its way so far but, as Warner Bros. are seemingly starting to prove, this DC franchise might prove, to an extent, critic-proof.
