'Suicide Squad' is Rated PG-13
If fans were hoping for an R-rated DC comics film to follow the success of Deadpool, those hopes have now been crushed.
Box Office Mojo is reporting that David Ayer's villain tale has officially been rated PG-13 for "sequences of violence and action throughout, disturbing behavior, and suggestive content and language."
It sounds like the film will be pushing the limits of PG-13. But as long as we get to see plenty of blood, guts and violence, the most important this is we don't see an nudity. Apparently.
Producer Charles Roven has previously stated that there were no plans for an R-rated DC film in the near future, so the announcement isn't a surprising one. Nevertheless, now we know, and the way is getting shorter and shorter for what may be, miraculously, DC's saving grace.
The film arrives in theaters August 5.
