'Suicide Squad' Projected for Back-to-Back Weekend Victories
Suicide Squad earned $133.7 million in its first weekend, breaking the August record for best opening weekend box office tally, and now it is projected for a $51-54 million follow-up weekend, and a consecutive winner over its competition.
A 60% decline, roughly, is not quite as dramatic as Batman v Superman's 69% fall, likely due to the younger demographic that is flocking to cinemas to see the villain-centric film. 76% of the audience for Suicide Squad has been under tha age of 35, with an average audience rating of A- on CinemaScore.
Disney's Pete's Dragon is set to debut somewhere in the $20 million range. Sausage Party, Seth Rogen's R-rated Sony pic, is projected for third place with $20 million.
