Summation of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Before I reveal my review of SW: Episode 01—The Phantom Menace, let me begin with a disclaimer. Full disclosure: I grew up in the 80s and am a diehard fan of original trilogy—Episodes 04 through 06. So forgive me if you read some sense of bias.
That said, I must confess this is not my first time watching "The Phantom Menace". As often the case when you watch a film more than once you begin to notice things that don't add up or make sense, or are just totally irrelevant. In this regard, Episode 01 can best be summed up in 3 words—Jar Jar Binks. If you've seen it, enough said right?
If not, watch the pod-race scene because that was cool, then skip to the third act of the film, past the Jar Jar scenes, and you'll see the best part of the film—Darth Maul vs Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan. And thanks to some exposition scenes between the Jedi Council and Obi-Wan, you'll be taught about why this boy Anakin Skywalker is so important. Overall, it was fair, but not good or great.
