'Supergirl' Season 2 Adds a Host of Characters that DC Comics Fans are Sure to be Familiar With
With the move to The CW, Supergirl is right on track with the addition of five new characters for its second season, with two regulars and three recurring roles joining the superhero drama.
The two series regulars are Lena Luthor, the sister of the infamous Lex Luthor, and Nick Farrow. Lena is describes as having departed Metropolis to get out from under her brother's shadow, and she is listed as 25-35, sexy, smart, and determined. Farrow is a new "leading man" type of character and the son of a famour reporter. No character under that name exists in the comics.
For the remaining three characters, there's The Doctor, a woman who experiments on people using alien technology, and who goes by the name Serling Roquette in the comics; Snapper Carr is a "veteran journalist who is appointed to remake the news division by going old school," and the character has a history with the Justice League in the books; and Maggie Sawyer, a much loved character from the comics.
Sawyer, though her last name hasn't been revealed for the show, is described as an "out and proud detective," which points to the very character in the comics that has dated and become engaged to Batwoman Kate Kane in the comics.
Casting is underway for all five roles.
