Terrence Malick Directing WWII Drama with August Diehl
Terence Malick made four films in the space of 32 years, and anticipation never wavered for a filmmaker who is so revered in certain sectors. In 2011, he released The Tree of Life, and followed that with last year's Knight of Cups. So he's certainly speeding up his turnaround.
With the documentary The Voyage of Time coming up, as well as Weightless, next up is Radegund, the tale of Franz Jagerstatter. Jagerstatter was a conscientious objector in France during World War II and was executed by the Nazis in 1943.
August Diehl will play Jaggerstatter, who ironically played an SS soldier in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds.
Fans of Malick have been treated to a stellar five or so years, and it looks to continue as the filmmaker continues carving out a remarkable filmography.
