The Blacklist Spin-Off Picked Up at NBC
The Blacklist is heading toward its fourth season on NBC, having debuted back in 2013, and as we go through the annual ordeal of seeing favourites cancelled and others renewed, we also get news of series pickups. Next up, The Blacklist: Redemption is on its way.
Variety is reporting the spin-off from the James Spader-led series, which will center on rookie profiler Elizabeth Keen's husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), a regular on the parent series who has a rather shady history.
Redemption's plot will launch with Tom's recruitment into an ultra-secret underground organisation tasked with assignments that require total discretion. When finding out his long-lost, mysterious mother leads this organisation, Tom joins to learn more about himself and his own past.
While The Blacklist isn't a top-of-the-market series, it's certainly no slouch in the ratings game. Whether it has earned a spin-off, however, remains to be seen. Redemption will premiere later this year.
