'The Conjuring 2' Crosses the $300 Million Mark at the Box Office
New Line Cinema's Conjuring sequel has done pretty well for itself, grossing over $300 million at the worldwide box office and $101.4 million on U.S. shores.
Along with The Conjuring, which earned just under $320 million worldwide, the films are the highest grossing horror movies worldwide after The Exorcist, from way back in 1973. The Conjuring franchise, which includes Annabelle in the conversation, is the third-highest grossing horror franchise worldwide.
The Nun spin-off film is already in the works, and Annabelle 2 is on the way. James Wan has a new film out this week, albeit from a producing standpoint. The filmmaker seems to be becoming the J.J. Abrams of horror films, as he helps debut director David F. Sandberg bring Lights Out to the big screen.
