'The Conjuring' Spinoff 'The Nun' Gets a 2018 Summer Release Date
New Line Cinema has slotted in The Conjuring Spinoff The Nun for a July 13, 2018 release, pitting it against Hotel Transylvania 3 and Amusement Park.
Corin Hardy will direct. His limited experience makes him a strange choice, though he has directed an animated short, a number of music videos, and the horror fil ,The Hallow. The script Is written by Gary Dauberman and James Wan, and Wan will produce alongside Peter Safran. The Nun becomes the second spinoff after Annabelle, which, despite poor reception for the original, has a sequel out on August 11.
The mainline Conjuring films are some of the best modern horror movies, and while Annabelle was a critical failure, hopefully these new films can strike a cord and propel this franchise into something unique for the genre.
