The Dawn of the Justice League
Yesterday, The CW aired its Dawn of the Justice League TV special segment, preparing fans for the inevitable storm of DC properties to take over in the foreseeable (and unforeseeable) future. With so much information to consume, we thought we'd bundle it all together to make it as easy as possible.
Naturally, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was first up for a showcase. Writer Geoff Johns discussed the opposing philosophies between the two title heroes, while also touching on Lex Luthor's comics-inspired portrayal.
Following that, Suicide Squad was the focus, including the first official trailer (excluding the comic-con trailer that debuted some time ago now).
The next segment is probably the highlight for a lot of people, including this writer, but it's also, understandably, the smallest glimpse so far. It takes us into Wonder Woman's territory, an exciting prospect given it's the character's first ever solo big screen appearance.
Ending there may have been a satisfying way to wet the appetites of DC fans the world over, but the show went on, and unveiled Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern Corps briefly to tease how far along this universe already is in the planning stages.
The superhero era is, frighteningly enough, just getting started. So if you hate the genre, stay in your shelter. If you're excited for the DC v Marvel rivalry (in which fans everywhere win no matter what), then get ready for the start of it all.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives March 25, 2016. Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016. And Wonder Woman June 23, 2017.
