The Exorcist Gets TV Pilot Order from FOX
Initially reported on in 2013, FOX has officially ordered a pilot for a series based on William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist, THR has learned.
The order for the series pilot has Jeremy Slater attached to write the series, based on the 1971 publication inspired by alleged true stories circling demonic possession.
The story follows 12 year-old girl Regan, who is taken over by an evil being. In 1973, the book was adapted to screen by William Friedkin, and is regarded as one of the scariest films of all time.
The Exorcist TV series joins fellow exorcism-themed series Outcast, from The Walking Dead scribe Robert Kirkman. Outcast, however, will be here a lot sooner, premiering this year.
