The Exorcist gets TV pilot order from FOX

The Exorcist Pilot Episode to be Directed by Rise of the Planet of the Apes Helmer

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With the enormous surge of Film-to-TV adaptations that have begun or been announced over the past few years, The Exorcist makes its way into that conversation.

Courtesy of Deadline, the pilot for one of the most renowned horror films of all time has landed director Rupert Wyatt, who directed Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Gambler.

The news comes quickly, just over a week after The Exorcist was announced for TV. Screenwriter Jeremy Slater, who wrote last year's Fantastic Four reboot, will write the one-hour pilot.

The series guarantees itself as a psychological thriller, with a focus on two men who are dealing with one family's case of demonic possession. If it sounds familiar, it's because a very similar concept exists in Robert Kirkman's upcoming series Outcast.
