'The Girl on the Train' Tops Box Office in First Weekend
The Girl on the Train has opened in first place at the U.S. box office, estimated earnings at $24.6 million from debuting in over three thousand theaters. The Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures' adaptation comes from the Paula Hawkins novel of the same name.
Tate Taylor directed the film, which has been met with decent reception from fans and critics. It stars Emily Blunt in the lead role for the film, which also estimates in at $517 million internationally over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Finding Dory has become Pixar's second billion-dollar picture, joining Toy Story 3, and Disney's fourth billion-dollar release in the past twelve months.
