'The Omen' is getting a Prequel at Fox
Fox is developing The First Omen, a prequel to the 1976 horror-thriller The Omen. Antonio Campos is in talks to direct, while David S. Goyer has signed on to produce.
The script has been written by Ben Jacoby. Campos comes off the back of Sundance debutant Christine, which told the story of a 29-year-old news reporter who committed suicide on live television in 1974.
The Omen was directed by Richard Donner from a script by David Seltzer. That film starred Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, and David Warner, and followed a young child adopted at birth by an American Ambassador and his wife. The couple were not aware that the child was the antichrist.
It earned over $60 million at the box office and won a best original score Oscar for Jerry Goldsmith. The film was remade in 2006 and made a respectable $120 million worldwide.
