The Original Star Wars Trilogy is Heading Back to Select Cinemas this Year
Star Wars is back, and bigger than ever. And to celebrate the return of the series with The Force Awakens and the beginning of a new direction with Rogue One, a new event for fans new and old will take us right back to where it all started.
The original trilogy will return to select cinemas, 39 years after A New Hope changed cinema forever (its up to you whether that's hyperbole). Alamo Drafthouse is bringing its roadshow program, 'The Return of the Trilogy' across the U.S. in over 20 cities throughout August.
Most of these theaters will screen the films in a row, making for an unmissable triple feature. "It's always been a dream to show the original Star Wars trilogy again - somehow, somewa," said Alamo Drafthouse VP of Special Events, Henri Mazza, in a press statement. "Seeing the original trilogy on the big screen for the first time is a real life-altering event and just a supreme amount of fun. When the films became available to book for screenings like these, we jumped at the change to do something big."
Alamo Drafthouse will be incorporating videos before and between films, including contests, props and other surprises for the event. Tickets are on sale May 4th.
