'The Purge 4' Gets a July 2018 Release Date
Universal, Blumhouse, and Platinum Dunes have greenlit the next film in the Purge franchise, and have set the release date of July 4, 2018. Creator James DeMonaco will pen the project but won't direct, despite having done so on the previous three films. He will aid in the search for the next person to helm the film.
The plot of the new film is being kept under wraps for the time being. Last year's Purge: Election Year was the highest-grossing title in the franchise so far. It grossed $79.2 million in the U.S. and $118.6 million worldwide.
The Purge 4 so far has only one competitor at the box office next year, in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp. That one is out July 6.
