The Russo Brothers Address 'Avengers: Infinity War' Name Change
The Russo brothers, the duo behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War, teased a potential name change a while before it was made official, often alluding that the two films were not parts of a whole at all.
Now, the title for Avengers 4 is up in the air, and the third is titled Infinity War. The Russo's have come out to discuss the name change post-reveal. “We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know.
"There's certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly Avengers: Infinity War." Predictably, it's to give them their own standalone feel. It feels like the two-parter is phasing out after a brief stay in pop culture launched back with Harry Potter and Twilight.
“In time, we will reveal what the second film is,” Joe said. Anthony reiterated, saying "you'll learn that, but not for quite some time."
May 4th, 2018 is the slated release for Infinity War. Its sequel is set for May 3, 2019.
