'The Secret Life of Pets' Getting a Sequel, Release Date Announced
The Secret Life of Pets was a surprise success this summer, though given the dominance from 2016's animated offerings it's not alarming. Now, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures have kicked off development on a sequel, which is set for July 13, 2018.
It's a quick turnover. Illumination CEO Chris Meladandri and collaborator Janet Healy will produce the follow-up, after the original broke records with its $104.3 million opening weekend.
Chris Reanud is back to direct and Biran Lynch will script, so the talent is back from the original, which is promising. You can still catch The Secret Life of Pets in theaters now,
