'The Simpsons' Gets its First Hour-Long Episode in January
At 28 years old, The Simpsons is approaching a new "first," set to premiere its first ever hour-long episode in the new season. The episode will premiere in January 2017.
Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henson will guest star in the episode, which is titled "The Great Phatsby" and primarily focuses on Mr. Burns, who's conned by a music mogul and goes bankrupt. Burns turns to Homer and Bart for help getting revenge on the mogul.
Lisa, Smithers, and Marge will each get a b-story to help hit that one-hour target. Lisa has a new suitor, who happens to have a lot of money, while Smithers will embark on his own "perilous journey." Marge tries her hand at a new work venture, opening a boutique store.
The new season kicks off Sunday, September 25.
