'The Space Between Us' Pushed into 2017, Avoids Clashing with 'Rogue One'
STX Entertainment has shifted sci-fi The Space Between Us back from December 16 to February 3, 2017, pushed seven weeks to make way for Rogue One, which would overshadow it entirely.
Asa Butterfield stars in the film as a 16 year-old that grew up on Mars as the child of an astronaut. When he wishes to learn about his home planet, he sparks an online friendship with a girl played by Britt Robertson. When he does return to Earth, scientists learn that his organs can't handle Earth's atmosphere.
Gary Oldman and Carla Gugino also star in the film, directed by Peter Chelson and written by Allan Loeb. Rogue One now only has to compete with Will Smith's Collateral Beauty.
