'The Walking Dead' Alum Austin Nichols to Recur in Season 5 of 'Bates Motel'
The Walking Dead alum Austin Nichols has landed a role that will be short-lived, joining the fifth and final season of the Psycho prequel series, Bates Motel. In that, he will play a recurring role, so he'll at least have a role to sink his teeth into before the lights are cut on the series for good.
NIchols plays Sam Loomis, a mysterious and charismatic newcomer to White Pine Bay, and who is quick to antagonize Norman Bates, played by Freddie Highmore, when he tries to involve him in a web of lies. The new season skips two years ahead of Morma's death and finds Norman living a double life, one part of which he struggles against the violent temptations as his "mother" threatens to take over.
Nichols recently ended his role as Spencer on The Walking Dead, and quite bloodily. Past credits include Ray Donovan, One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights, and John From Cincinnati. Bates Motel returns on February 20.
