'The Walking Dead' Ratings Still High Following Polarizing Premiere
The Walking Dead took a sharp left turn in its second episode from what it produced in the premiere, offering not only a lighter episode but also just a better one in general. And if fans expected a significant drop in viewership following that unpleasant opener, they'd be quite wrong.
Despite going up against big sporting events in the U.S., The Walking Dead still saw 12.5 million viewers tune in, with 7.8 of those in the key 18-49 adults demographic. This is a drop from the 17 million who watched the opener, but there was no chance it would retain that kind of figure.
The next episode, titled The Cell, is described as: "A new group of survivors seem to have it all in their impressive community, however, there is a price."
