'Thor: Ragnarok' Director on What Drew Him to the MCU Sequel
Taika Waititi is making his dip into blockbuster filmmaking following beloved indie films for projects such as Hunt for the Wilderpeople. With queries over why he made the jump into the world of multi-million dollar summer box office hits, the director gave an answer while speaking with Digital Spy.
“I always want to do something different when I make something,” he said. “I really like the idea of doing something really big. My films have always been a lot smaller. I like the kind of films I make but it was an opportunity that presented itself that wouldn't come around often, so I thought I would just pursue.”
The New Zealand-born director also wanted an opportunity to work with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. Recent interviews have revealed that Waititi is having a successful and enjoyable time of the job, with shooting going smoothly on the third Thor film.
It's slated for November 3, 2017.
