TIFF 2016 Preview: Action!
With the Toronto International Film Festival about to start, we take a look at the most anticipated films and the lesser known projects that are worth checking out at this year's festival.
(re)ASSIGNMENT
Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver star in this crazy revenge thriller by Walter Hill, who's worked on 'Aliens', 'Alien3' and is producer on the upcoming Alien projects.
When a pissed off doctor (Weaver) captures her brother's killer, she turns 'him' into a 'her' (Rodriguez) with full gender reassignment surgery. If that doesn't create the setup for a big revenge plot I don't know what does.
Dog Eat Dog
If you're into the more crazy comedies Nicolas Cage did over the years, this should be something to look out for.
Together with Willem Dafoe and Christopher Matthew Cook they play three ex-cons looking to kidnap the baby of another mobster. Great plan!
Free Fire
Director Ben Wheatley ('High-Rise') turns up with another impressive cast in this '70s action crime rollercoaster.
Armie Hammer, Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy have set up a gun deal in some random warehouse. Everything goes well, until it doesn't. Guns fire, blood spurts, explosions, you know how it goes.
The Belko Experiment
Director James Gunn ('Guardians of the Galaxy') penned this crazy script about a group of office workers who are ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves.
Soon the group (including Josh Brener, Michael Rooker, John Gallagher Jr. and Sean Gunn) understands there's no other way than to participate in this modern day arena.
