TNT's 'The Alienist' Enlists Luke Evans and Daniel Bruhl to Star
The Alienist is ready to head into production, set to commence in Budapest early 2017, and now has it stars at the forefront. Luke Evans (The Hobbit trilogy, Beauty and the Beast) and Daniel Bruhl will lead the way.
Evans plays John Moore, a reporter and society illustrator for the New York Times, described as “handsome, easy going, easily distracted, and prone to melancholy." He attends the scene of a crime, and beneath the surface he's mourning the loss of a lover and drowning his sorrows.
Bruhl plays Moore's friend Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, who enlists his help to investigate a series of grizzly murders. Kreizler is the titular alienist, who studies mental pathologies.
Back in 2015, Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) was set to helm, but has since fallen out of the project.
