Tom Hanks to play "Geppetto" in Robert Zemeckis' 'PINOCCHIO'
Get this man a pair of prop spectacles stat.
Tom Hanks has once again re-entered talks to play Pinocchio’s elderly, woodcarving father figure, Geppetto.
Hanks had originally circled Disney’s live-action adaptation back in 2018. At the time, “Paddington’s” Paul King was slated to direct. Two years later, King has since departed the project and Robert Zemeckis has signed on to direct and co-write along with producer Chris Weitz.
Deadline sources say Hanks reached out to his former Cast Away collaborator upon reading the latest script. Negotiations are still in progress but a deal is likely to be made official soon.
Pinocchio marks the fourth collaboration between Hanks and Zemeckis after Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, and Cast Away.
