Tom Hardy Talks Missed Opportunity Suicide Squad Role
Nearly a year on since Tom Hardy left David Ayer's Suicide Squad film, to be replaced by Joel Kinneman to play Rick Flag, Hardy hasn't forgotten about the opportunity.
"That got derailed for me," Hardy told Variety, discussing the scheduling conflict between that and The Revenant. "Was I bummed? Of course I was. I hate f—-ing losing work. I kept bemoaning that they were losing me significant money on a dailey basis. Actually, it was good for my character."
No doubt he'd have made the utmost of the role, but it's refreshing to hear that he can openly admit that the missed payday was a missed opportunity for him above anything else. It's completely honest.
Despite losing the opportunity to see him in Suicide Squad, we do get to see him in the upcoming The Revenant, that opens December 25, a film that is being touted as brilliant and in some words a masterpiece.
