'True Detective' Season 3: Jeremy Saulnier Will Direct, Synopsis Revealed
Good news True Detective fans. Or shall I say, fans of season 1? (psst, I liked Season 2) The third installment of Nic Pizzolatto's crime anthology series has been given the official go-ahead by HBO.
President of HBO programming, Casey Bloys confirmed that series creator Nic Pizzolatto has already churned out five scripts with one of them co-written by David Milch. Perhaps the biggest surprise here is not so much Milch's lack of involvement (that we know of) but confirmation writer/director Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Blue Ruin) will direct the series with Pizzolatto directing one episode.
Season three's mystery will span over a decade and will play out in three separate time periods focusing on Mahershala Ali as Arkansas police detective Wayne Hayes who investigates a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks. Let me summarize, Ali + macabre crime + Ozarks. Don't forget, Saulnier's #brand is all about macabre, yucky middle America.
"I'm tremendously thrilled to be working with artists at the level of Mahershala and Jeremy [Saulnier]. I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we're all very excited to tell this story," Pizzolatto said in a statement.
We hope so too Nic.
Pizzolatto, serves as showrunner and executive producer along with Saulnier and returning executive producers Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and Cary Joji Fukunaga, who directed Season 1.
Time to get back on the bandwagon?
