Ubisoft in Talks with Netflix for a Video Game-to-TV Adaptation
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed property lands in theaters in just over a month, and a nearly throwaway line of dialogue in a Reuters article indicates that Ubisoft is "in talks with Netflix over a series."
Ubisoft launched Ubisoft Motion Pictures in 2011, with a clear intent to get into the film and TV game. There's a number of properties that fans of the developer would love to see on Netflix, though there's a number of them already in the works for film.
Splinter Cell, The Division, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Watch Dogs are all in development for the big screen, though any one of them could land on TV instead of course. While the possibilities simmer for a time, plenty of eyes are on Assassin's Creed, to see if it can break the mold of poor video game adaptations (Warcraft is probably a 50/50 on success rate, depending who you ask).
