Universal Pictures and Disney Own 2015's Summer Box Office
Despite seeing the second-largest box office in history this past summer, Universal and Disney thought better than to share the spoils.
Universal gave us hits like 'Jurassic World', a blockbuster in every sense of the word, 'Pitch Perfect 2', a very successful family-fun flick, and the 'Despicable Me' spin-off, 'Minions'.
Disney, meanwhile, gave us more superheroes to dominate the market. 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and 'Ant-Man' were both big winners in their own sense ('Avengers' fell short of it's predecessor, but was still successful; 'Ant-Man' succeeds as a less familiar character wrenched from beneath Marvel's pantheon).
With 'Star Wars' still to come, it seems Disney is at the head of the pack for the foreseeable future.
