Asa Butterfield talks about playing Hugo Cabret in Martin Scorsese's film Hugo. "Hugo is an orphan. And just before his dad died, they were fixing this automaton, this mechanical figure. And he doesn't know, when he's fixing it, what it's gonna do. Whether it's gonna be a message from his father. Whether it's gonna be something completely different." Then he meets Georges Melies and Isabelle.
Asa Butterfield also talks about how his character has to grow up faster than other boys he has played. And being directed by Martin Scorsese. "It was different in one word. It was incredible. It was a massive education for me in working with him. Both about the old cinema and just his view on filming and the way he does it. He is a perfectionist." Asa also talks about how Martin Scorsese made him do certain things.
And also how the relationship develops with Isabelle and George. And playing with Ben Kingsley and being on the set of Hugo.
