Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell and Hugo Weaving talk about the looks of Captain America
Chris Evans: I was really excited to play Steve Rogers. There's something about Captain America. It just kind of felt like that's the guy you wanna be. Kevin Feige: Captain America has been portrayed in the comics as everything from a spandex red, white and blue costume with wings on the side to a very militarized helmet, goggles. And frankly we found something in the middle. Joe Johnston: You can't have him really step out of the pages of the comic book onto the screen. You have to interpret the visual pallet that you got from the comic book and put it on the screen.
The suit. I went to a lot of different stages. And I would just kind of come in every couple of weeks and I would try a new outfit on. And they would measure and cut and I would kind of stay out of it. And then finally they got it where they wanted it and I think it looks fantastic. Hayley Atwell: There has been nothing spared in terms of making sure this looks incredibly slick and sexy and exciting. Hugo Weaving: He's done the most fantastic job and he looks extraordinary in his Captain America outfit.
