Interview with Nick Swardson for the 30 Minutes or Less release.
I really great playing kind of a bad guy. I mean, we're bad guys, but we're not evil. You know what I mean? But it is fun playing a different kind of character. And having this mustache, which is borderline unbearable.
On Danny McBride's character Dwayne
Danny McBride plays Dwayne, who is really the catalyst in this whole movie. In terms of coming up with the scheme of needing money, kidnapping Jesse, putting a bomb on him. Which was kind of my idea, but Dwayne kind of leads the whole charge.
On finding the right tone for his character
Danny and I have more of a sweetness and kind of a happy go lucky stupid guy vibe. Or it won't come of as dark, you know. But, yeah, it's a really cool movie.
On working with Ruben Fleischer
Ruben's a friend of mine for a long time. I did one of the first things he ever shot ten years ago. It was like a short film. So it was really cool to see Ruben kind of blossom into this really brilliant director. And I loved Zombieland. I thought it was great. And the great thing about Ruben is that he is very comedy friendly, which is very hard to find. It's really hard to find directors who have a great ecstatic and eye for shots and style, but also really good with comedy and trusting the performers and open to having people collaborate and give ideas for the comedy and stuff. It's just so hard to find. And Ruben really encompasses all of that, which is great.
Nick Swardson also talks about the Flamethrower stunt.
