It’s turning out to be a damn good weekend for Vin Diesel, who hasn’t had a hit in years. And Monsters vs. Aliens is having a good second week as well.
Here are Friday’s estimates. $4 million for the Haunting in Connecticut. Monsters vs. Aliens did another good $9 million. And Fast and Furious opened very strong with $28 million.
This means Fast and Furious is about to have a $60 million plus weekend. It could even go near $70 million. And Monsters vs. Aliens is showing legs, it’ll make around $35 million.
That’s an amazing start for Fast and Furious. It tops the former best opening in April by $25 million. It’s the best opening in the Fast and Furious franchise and it’s the best opening for Vin Diesel as well.
And DreamWorks can’t complain about Monsters vs. Aliens either. It’s looking at domestic total of $107 million for a worldwide total not far under $150 million after the weekend. Yes, after less than two weeks.
More worldwide and domestic totals, as always, after the weekend.
