Rachel McAdams on Irene Adler, her relation with Holmes and Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2

Rachel McAdams: She's very different from other characters that I've played. And she can be quite cheeky. And she's always for something up her sleeves. So there's a lot going on behind the curtain. So you get to play different intentions. And I'm confused by her at times. And her mystery and the relationship between Robert and I was really fun. That's a fun dance. And getting the pitch of that just right. So it can be quite playful and then there's drama and danger and all the good stuff.

There's always a bit of holding back. And it's a bit of a cat and mouse game. And who's going to reveal their feelings first or, you know, how much. And then there's the other plot going on. Which is: what is she keeping from him or vice versa. That they need to actualize other goals. So it's kind of finding a balance between the relationship, the love relationship, and then their working relationship for the lack of a better term. Because they really don't work together. They work against each other. It's just finding a middle-ground.

Jared is really lovely. So he's not at all like Moriarty. So it was really exciting and great to see him turn that on, you know, when the cameras were on. And he was quite intimidating. It was great. I think he makes a great Moriarty. And it's a pinnacle scene for my character in this particular film. So the stakes were rather high. So, yeah, there was kind of a crackle in the air.
