Captain America is something the fans care a lot about. There's something about him. The red, white and blue. It just felt like that's the guy you wanna be. He's a character that's not your typical superhero. What has made Captain America such a phenomenon is that all his power is basically what the human body can do. The notion of a super powered human, started with Steve Rogers, Captain America. He really doesn't come into his own as Captain America, until he gets a shield.
Howard Stark, Tony's father, plays a big part in the Captain America movie. He even outfits Steve with his iconic shield. Yeah, the shield is made of vibranium, which is stronger than steel but three quarters the weight. Which makes it very good in battle. It's a metal whose properties absorb all energies.
Axel Alonso: Cap was originally armed with a shield and a gun. And he would deflect bullets with the shield and he would dish out bullets with the gun.
