Walt Disney Animation Announces 'Raya and the Last Dragon'
Raya and the Last Dragon will arrive on Thanksgiving 2020.
Raya and the Last Dragon will be written by Adele Lim, who wrote Crazy Rich Asians. The film is inspired by the culture of Southeast Asia. It will be an epic fantasy adventure for all ages. The film stars Cassie Steele as the voice of Raya and Awkwafina as the voice of Sisu the dragon.
Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam inspired the film's location of Kumandra, a mysterious and mythical land with five different clans. Raya is a warrior, and Sisu is the main dragon that can also transform into human form. The story is set in an alternate Earth created by dragons.
The animation is going to be hyper-realistic. The environments of the film are being described as photo-realistic. Raya and the Last Dragon is gaining a lot of comparison to Game of Thrones.
The film is being directed by Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins. The film will be produced by Moana's Osnat Shurer.
