Walton Goggins Joins Alicia Vikander in 'Tomb Raider'
Walter Goggins is the first to join Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider, the reboot of Lara Croft's story set to revisit the heroine's origins. Goggins is negotiating the role of the villain in the film, which is being directed by Roar Uthaug.
THR reports that details are scarce aside from the fact that we know he's the villain. Goggins has proven in Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight that he can play devious and malevolent characters.
Producer Graham King has said that the new film will be more character-driven, as opposed to the earlier films starring Angelina Jolie. "Listen, the box office [for the Tomb Raider movies], they weren’t disasters but I find it interesting that the story that we’re telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it’s a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it’s something very different."
