Warner Bros. has been working incredibly hard on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that hasn't resulted in them neglecting other projects. Warner Bros. recently announced the hiring of End of Watch director David Ayer to helm their upcoming Suicide Squad, which teams up a bunch of super-villains.
Variety first reported that Ayer was their top choice to director the movie, but was unclear at the time on where things stood in the deal-making process. It was also mentioned that Ayer had “shown interest” in the job, and now it's been confirmed he will in fact, make the movie.
Ayer's latest movie, World War II tank flick Fury, is in cinemas now, although Oscar buzz around the film has seemingly dropped off, after its initial release. Back in 2012, Ayer won lots of praise for his gritty cop drama End of Watch, which in turn, lead Warner Bros. to pursue him for this Suicide Squad movie, which boasts similar themes, visually.
