Warner Bros. Dates 'Minecraft' for Big-Screen Release in 2019
The Minecraft Movie is set to capitalise on another huge fan base, following Warner Bros.' own success with the LEGO property. The big-screen adaptation of the crafting video game will arrive May 25, 2019.
While it's just under three years away, it will go up against Star Wars: Episode IX, just a day after that film's release. Last time a Warner Bros. and Disney movie landed on the same day, it resulted in Batman v Superman being brought forward to avoid competition.
The Minecraft film will be directed by Rob McElhenney, who starred in Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
