'The Batman,' 'The Flash,' and 'Shazam 2' Receive New Release Dates
Warner Bros. delay comes as The Batman was only a quarter of the way into production.
As if it wasn’t enough to endure Hollywood’s unprecedented theatrical reshuffling. Studios are now shifting their focus to reshuffle the theatrical release dates for productions currently on hold due to COVID-19.
Earlier today, Warner Bros. adjusted their 2021 and 2022 slate, moving the first entry of Matt Reeves highly anticipated Batman trilogy from June 25, 2021 to October 1, 2021. The studio also reshuffled the dates of films currently in pre-production, including Shazam 2! moving from April 1, 2022 to Nov. 4, as well as Ezra Miller’s The Flash moving up from July 1, 2022 to June 2, 2022. Which, if there was a silver lining here, perhaps it’s simply knowing that Warner Bros. intend to follow through with Shazam 2 and The Flash.
Insider sources initially speculated Studios would not resume production on films currently on hiatus until mid-May at the earliest. While much of Asia continues to trend towards the positive, it’s likely the global pandemic will continue to keep Studios in the dark as Europe and North America have yet to see the pandemic peak.
