Winter Begins as Season 7 of 'Game of Thrones' Gets Delayed
There is no release date revealed by HBO for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, which looks likely to drop from ten episodes to seven or eight on the march toward the series' endgame.
However, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have come out and revealed that the production schedule will be delayed in order for them to shoot in colder weather. With a later production start, naturally we can expect a later premiere.
Every season has premiered somewhere between March 31 and April 24, but the showrunners are cautioning us nice and early at least. "We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a bit later. We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, winter is here.
"And that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we’ve kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."
With 13-15 episodes left in the series, the show has earned some good grace from fans, and a matter of weeks or months will be forgiven by its devoted fan base.
