'Wrath of Khan' Writer to Handle an Episode of 'Star Trek Discovery'
Star Trek is only growing, with a blockbuster film franchise and a small-screen return to mark its 50th anniversary. With a January 2017 premiere for the series, we now know that one episode will be written by a former Trek writer.
Nicholas Meyer, who penned three of the six Star Trek films that feature the original series crew: The Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home, and The Undiscovered Country. Meyer will write the second episode of the series, following the pilot written by executive producers Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman.
More details were revealed for the female human lead of the series, who isn't the captain of the ship. She is referred to in the show as "Number One," Fuller revealed. The series is set to premiere on CBS in January before crossing over to the network's streamer.
