'Wrong Turn' Reboot in the Works
Add Wrong Turn to the never ending-list of prequels, sequels, ‘requels’, reboots, and remakes!
As franchises are want to do these days, the braintrusts have decided it’s time to “re-interpret” Wrong Turn’s fictional story featuring backwoods cannibals who prey on unsuspecting travelers.
According to Deadline, Constantin Film has green lit the remake of 2003's Wrong Turn starring Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Eliza Dushku. Producers describe the reboot as being a “frightening reflection of our world today. One person’s American dream is another’s worst nightmare”.
Alan McElroy, franchise creator and writer of all SIX Wrong Turn films, will pen the script that is said to be a "timely and topical meditation on society" featuring a group of friends who find themselves "in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law."
I'm not certain what's so "timely" about pitting a group of adventure seekers against a group of cannibals in the backwoods of West Virginia. But then again, these are crazy times we live in and perhaps Wrong Turn redux will shed an entirely different light on America's problems dealing with poverty, inbreeding, and cannibalism? I’ll say this, if inbred cannibals were a thing, they would definitely give Trump a run for his money as the most “frightening reflection of our world today.”
