X-Men: Apocalypse Director Says Recasting Wolverine is "Impossible"
Hugh Jackman has starred in seven film as Wolverine, with the upcoming third Wolverine solo film being his eighth and, according to the Australian actor, his last.
While there's been rumours that the character could appear in Deadpool or X-Men: Apocalypse, the director and producer of the latter don't believe there's much use in recasting Jackman.
Digital Spy recently spoke with director Bryan Singer and producer Simon Kinberg, who said "I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward. Honestly, I can't imagine anybody else playing the part, and there's not too many characters I can say that for."
This could conjure up a question that many might consider insane, but could it lead to the iconic character's death in Jackman's final appearance? The actor and character certainly deserve a good sendoff, and from the looks of things the character might just be shelved for a while after Jackman departs the franchise.
Of course, death is easily reversed in superhero stories, so it isn't out of the realm of possibility. The as-yet-untitled sequel and, reportedly, Jackman's last hurrah as the character will hit theatres March 3, 2017.
