'Y: The Last Man' Still On Track for Adaptation at FX
Y: The Last Man stands out as perhaps the most memorable experience I've had with a comic book series, particularly as it was one of the earliest experiences I'd had in the medium. While it's easy to be skeptical about a series being adapted into any other format, its housing at FX is promising.
While there's no such thing as a sure thing in the world of adaptations, there is new confirmation via IGN that FX still has this thing in the works. Via the TCA press tour, FX Original Programming President Nick Gad has confirmed that things are happening. "We’re supposed to get a script in the next couple months […] It’s going to be an ongoing series."
The writer behind the series Brian K. Vaughan is penning the script alongside showrunner Michael Green. Vaughan has a prolific history in the comic book medium, with some of the most stirring works you'll find, and some of the most accessible stories for new readers too, but he's also written for TV shows Lost and Under the Dome.
Y: The Last Man, meanwhile, follows the last man on Earth, Yorick Brown, and his monkey Ampersand, following a plague that wiped out every living mammal with a Y chromosome. While talk of a film adaptation some time ago was circling, of all format's TV is probably where this post-apocalyptic adventure belongs.
