Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill are Enthusiastic for a Solo Superman Sequel
No release date currently exists for a second solo Superman film, nor a Batman-centric feature. That being said, both have interest from those involved. A Batman script is reportedly being worked on by Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns.
A Superman sequel seems to be less realised at this point, though there's definitely enthusiasm toward the possibility. Director Zack Snyder spoke with IGN regarding why it hasn't been penciled in.
"I think if we could get a good script it would be great to have a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do. Part of the reason we haven't announced a standalone Superman movie was to support some of the events of [Batman v Superman]."
Cavill also had a say, alluding to the success of Dawn of Justice factoring into the holdup. "I do believe it depends upon the success of this movie. If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. to develop a standalone Superman, but they've got their plan set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies.
"It's about finding the time really. It's something I would be very keen to do." With Batman v Superman climbing up on the box office ladder, it seems likely that Henry Cavill may get his wish.
